Cookie policy – Darts betting
The darts odds guides on Darts betting need little technology to run. Cookies are small text files that a browser keeps on a device, and local and session storage entries as well as counting pixels do much the same job. All of them are covered below, together with purpose and ways to refuse or change them.
The rule
Regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR) governs this area. Information may be stored on a user’s device, or read from it, only on the basis of clear and comprehensive information and the user’s consent. The exception is storage strictly necessary to provide a service the user has requested. Consent follows the UK GDPR standard (Article 4(11) and Article 7): freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous, and as easy to withdraw as to give. When a cookie involves personal data, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 add their own rules.
Files needed for operation
Certain files keep the site working: they hold a session, spread traffic over servers, shield forms from abuse and record the cookie choice. With no way to run reliably without them, they are placed without a separate choice. Session files expire when the browser closes, and the recorded choice is retained for twelve months at the longest.
Files that need consent
Functional files keep settings, such as the last odds table opened. Analytics files count page views and show which pages get read, so content can be improved. Both kinds appear only once consent has been given through the banner. IP addresses are shortened before analysis, and no profile is assembled that follows behaviour across different sites.
Content from other providers
Embedded videos or maps come from outside services that may set their own files. Their privacy rules apply in addition, and an objection is directed to the provider. Darts betting does not use advertising cookies for personalised ads unless the banner offers a clear choice.
Changing consent
A visitor can reopen the choice at any time via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, and withdrawal takes effect for the future without touching earlier lawful processing. Cookies can also be blocked and removed through the browser’s own privacy settings. After necessary files are removed, the banner shows again and certain features may pause for a short while.
Who supervises
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the UK supervisory authority, and a complaint about the handling of personal data can be sent to it. The privacy policy of this site describes how personal data is processed.
