Privacy policy – Darts betting
An information site on darts and other betting needs only a small amount of personal data, and Darts betting keeps to that. The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 are the governing rules, and this policy is the notice required by Article 13 of the UK GDPR.
Controller
Under Article 4(7) UK GDPR the controller is the body that operates Darts betting. Its name, address and e-mail address are available at dartsoddsuk.com, which is also where any question about personal data is directed.
What is collected
Opening a page leaves a log entry on the server with IP address, date and time, the address requested, the amount of data transferred, the referring page and the type of browser. Logs support security and the discovery of abuse; after 90 days they are removed or shortened until no longer attributable to a person. A person who writes to the editors provides a name, an e-mail address and the message itself, all used solely for the reply. With no reader accounts, deposits or bets, the site never asks for payment details or identity documents.
Purposes and lawful bases
Server logs, protection against abuse and replies to messages rest on legitimate interests in keeping the site running and secure (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Non-essential cookies and audience measurement need consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR in combination with regulation 6 of PECR) and are inactive until it is given. Consent may be withdrawn whenever wished, and earlier processing stays lawful (Article 7(3)). Neither automated decision-making nor profiling occurs.
Recipients and international transfers
The data is not sold. It reaches processors that act on the controller’s instructions for hosting, content delivery and e-mail (Article 28 UK GDPR), and public authorities where the law requires. A transfer beyond the United Kingdom happens only to a country with adequacy regulations or with appropriate safeguards, for example the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum (Article 44 onwards).
Individual rights
Everyone may request access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18) or portability (Article 20), and may object to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21). A reply follows without undue delay and at the latest within one month; where necessary the period can be extended by two further months (Article 12(3)).
Storage periods
Logs are kept for 90 days at most. Correspondence is kept until the matter is closed and for as long as defending against possible claims requires. Providing data in a message is voluntary, yet no reply is possible without it.
Complaints
Data protection in the UK is supervised by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). A person who believes the processing of their data breaches the law has a right to complain there (Article 77 UK GDPR).
